MOTHERS DAY BANGLE

BANGLE

By Linda Jones (www.wirejewellery.co.uk)

Materials:  0.8mm silver plated wire, 14-16 assorted mocha coloured pearl beads, 13-14 natural chip M.O.P. shell beads.

Tools:  Round and chain nosed pliers, wire cutters.
(materials can be found here)

1. Depending on the length of the bangle required, cut about 9” (23cm) of 0.8mm wire.  Using your round nosed pliers, create a wrapped loop at one end.

2. Start threading the end of the wire with shell and pearl beads, alternating the sizes and types as you go.

3. Once you’ve threaded enough beads for the bangle (don’t forget the clasp will add an extra 1” to your bangle), bend the end of the wire over to double it.  Squeezing the doubled wires closely together until they run parallel.

4. Wrap the excess, projecting wire by the last bead and neaten the end.

5. Place your round nosed pliers about ¾ along the double wire end and bend the wires around the circular shaft to create a double wire hook.  Use the tips of your pliers to make a tiny ‘lip’ at the end of the doubled wires.  Find a cylindrical object (such as a pill jar, condiment bottle, etc… that is slightly smaller than the bangle diameter) and press the piece around to form the circular bangle shape.
